I've broken my wireless bluetooth earphones so much I should get a discount from Amazon. One has fallen out of my ear and into my cat's water bowl; another I dropped the whole case into the toilet.

Being this destructive comes with a price tag (or, in my case, several weeks of listening to music in one ear) and so when they go on sale it's normally something I pay attention to. Amazon currently have a deal on several of their wireless earphones, with Btootos discounting theirs 60 per cent - all the way down to £19.99 from £49.99.

The earphones come in seven different colours, including black, blue, green, white, purple, red and rose gold. The LED case shows how much charge there is left inside, but it claims to pack 36 hours worth of charge.

They also say they are waterproof, which could be useful for any clumsier people. Probably best for Londoners is the "dual 13.0mm low-distortion composite dynamic drivers with high resolution decoder Bluetooth." The earphones have 16,580 reviews and garnered a strong 4.6 rating. Seventy-five per cent of those are five star, which works out to 12,435.

One person said: "I previously had apple AirPods but they got stolen and I couldn’t afford new ones. I was hesitant but these do the job! They are comfy in my ears and stay in while running. The sound quality is good for the price. It doesn’t have all the fancy features AirPods do but it’s less than 10% of the price so better in my opinion! Very pleased. Connected straight away to my iphone. The main pro is the charge lasts WAY longer than AirPods. At least 4x as long (presumably because there are less high tech features using up power)."

However, a less happy person said: "I got these earphones about 4 months ago and a couple of weeks ago they started being defective. The left earphone will not charge properly and takes up to 5 minutes to power on when I remove it from the case. The right earphone was doing this before. I followed the cleaning instructions properly and it didn't help. They were never exposed to water or anything like that. I only use them for phone calls at home. I'd give it 5 stars if they worked."

These aren't the only earphones on discount. There's the ROMOKE wireless earphones, down from £49.99 to a solid £24.99, which is 50 per cent off. These have a 4.6 out of 1,443 ratings, but I actually own a pair of these myself and were, in fact, one of the pairs I dropped down the toilet.

Fishing them out of the (flushed) toilet, drying them out and disinfecting them with more wipes then you can possibly imagine they... actually kept working, just as much as before. So the claim they are waterproof, from my experience, holds up. Battery is also really solid. I'm a big podcast-gamer and will last pretty much all day before needing a charge.

The sound quality isn't 5 star but for the price, they're pretty decent. I can hear music on most of the Tube except the Central line death scream. I also have them in when I go to sleep and East London is being particularly noisy (drunk people or police sirens, take your pick), and it actually blots out the sound. I would recommend these earphones as long as you aren't mega concerned about the bass.

Then there are a pair of Xawy bluetooth wireless headphones, down from £45 to £11.39. They have a 4.2 rating out of 11 ratings. One person said: "These are what you would expect there cheap and cheerful all those I keep buying all the money I’ve spent trying to buy one that was okay I would of brought a really good 1 by now". Another added: "Paired up OK, but the sound was adequately loud but very tinny. Cheap enough at the sale price. The USB is micro for charging, not USB C."

You can get the Btootos earphones for £19.99 on Amazon, the Xawy earphones for £11.39 on Amazon and the ROMOKE for £24.99 on Amazon.
